Benefits

Colored cotton is ecological as there is no need for the phases of dyeing preparation and dyeing itself, which both require the use of chemical products. Without the need for these phases, there is a significant reduction in water and energy waist. The dyeing process is highly pollutant!

The organic plantation and harvest are done by hand, this way avoiding not just contamination of the final product but also the contamination of the soil, water and eatable produce that is grown nearby. As the harvesting is done manually and the productivity of a plantation is lower than that of conventional cotton, the payment that the farmers receive is above the market price. We guarantee a purchase price of the cotton from the family-based agricultural workers at least 10% above the market price. We provide schools for local communities and even pay certain medical expenses for some of the cotton producers who were previously without land and homes. Many of the artisans, such as those belonging to Mother’s Clubs are able to carry out their work within their own communities so they are close to their children and families. We provide work for more than 850 people directly and indirectly in a region of Brazil with a high-level of poverty.

No waist is allowed! We use the fabric remnants to make the children’s toys and our buttons are made from coconut shell. Off-cuts of fabric are transformed into various components of new products as toys, appliqués and so on. Any off–cuts that are not able to be used are pulled apart and re-woven to make new thread.
